She wrote it about her mothers last few years as she slowly passed in front of her due to dementia. There is not a lot known about dementia but it affects roughly 50 million people worldwide. As Kathy watched her mother's life slowly recede into the void, she collected all the emotions and experiences she had and put them into her book. She wove this together with a fictional recounting of her mother's early life.
