Police remove 'suspected explosives' from Bangor home

Police said no arrests have been made thus far.

BANGOR (NEWS CENTER Maine) — A search warrant conducted by police Tuesday found suspected explosives inside a Bangor home on Essex Street.

According to the Bangor Police Department, nearby residents were evacuated and a portion of the road was shut down while a team searched 979 Essex St. Both were precautionary measures, police said.

An explosive disposal team arrived shortly before 7 p.m. and removed the suspected explosives.

The road was reopened and all residents were allowed to return home.

Police said no arrests have been made thus far.

Authorities are still investigating and planned to be at the scene for most of the night.
