LePage: 'We will turn Maine red,' with GOP unity

LePage wants Maine GOP members to set aside their differences.

DAMARISCOTTA (NEWS CENTER Maine) — Governor Paul LePage told Lincoln County Republicans Saturday their party needs to set aside personal disagreements and work together if they want to win in November.

'The president of the Senate, the minority leader of the House and the governor need to get together,' said LePage. He said they and other GOP members and leaders need to 'bury the hatchet' and focus on winning the November election.

Senate President Mike Thibodeau and House GOP leader Ken Fredette are both running for governor. Relations between the two have reportedly been strained for more than a year, and there have also been significant differences between LePage and Thibodeau.

LePage said if Republicans win the race for governor this year, 'we will turn Maine red,' predicting Republicans would then be able to retain control for some years.
