More snow, cold for Maine Thanksgiving week | Breton Blog

Another round of snow on Tuesday is looking like a bigger deal, in more of the state.

This week will be even more wintry than last week.

Here are the highlights:

  • Light snow in southern and coastal Maine Monday morning may drop a coating to an inch or two, causing some slick spots for the commute.
  • Another round of snow on Tuesday is looking like a bigger deal, in more of the state.
  • Snow squalls are possible Wednesday afternoon as an arctic front arrives.
  • Thanksgiving Day will be windy and frigid.

Drawing a map for Monday morning really is just a formality. Most of the state should be okay, but we know all it takes is a quick coating on an untreated road to cause problems, especially during the commute. Plan for a little extra time in case.

The next round of snow set for Tuesday is starting to turn into a bigger deal.

This is a first call map and may be adjusted. Even if these totals work out, it would be enough to cause problems for travel during the day Tuesday, especially considering the number of people hitting the road for the holiday.

All of the more specific details, like the timeline, will come into clarity over the next 6 to 12 hours.

It looks like snow could break out in New Hampshire and southwestern Maine as early as 5 a.m. Tuesday, spreading east through the morning. The steadiest snow may come during the middle of the day, into the afternoon.

By Tuesday night, this should be over.

It's worth noting some of our guidance is suggesting heavier snow than we are currently forecasting. Not all of the models are on board with this just yet. There's a chance heavy snow lasts longer and is more widespread. Please check back Monday for important updates, in case this forecast changes.
