Teenager charged with Ellsworth school threat

A Denmark-based company contacted the FBI over a threat made on the popular mobile video game, Clash of Clans

ELLSWORTH, Maine (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- A teenager is charged with terrorizing and violation of conditional release, stemming from a school threat this week.

Nineteen-year-old Michael Allen of Ellsworth is being held at the Hancock County Jail.

According to the Ellsworth Police Department, the FBI office in Bangor contacted them Wednesday about a possible school threat. The FBI was notified by a Denmark-based company, which hosts a mobile game called Clash of Clans. The company provided the FBI with the IP address and post from the user of the game.

In an interview with NEWS CENTER Maine, Ellsworth Police Chief Glenn Moshier said the online threat was "credible," that it targeted the high school's resource officer, and that Allen allegedly said he would pull the fire alarm to gather students. The post stated he "could kill 30 if he was lucky and he would be the most notorious person."

Moshier said Allen is a student who was supposed to graduate last year. However, Allen still needs to meet a few non-academic requirements to graduate.

Allen was arrested without incident at his mother's home. According to police, weapons were found at the residence, but not in Allen's possession. Allen was known to authorities after he was previously arrested on OUI and assault charges. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear before a judge Friday.
